Geoff Kell (Old Forest Man)
Hibiscus
A diversion from recent landscapes but a similar intimate feel to my last post, this lovely hibiscus is in my garden. I've been wanting to photographh it for years but there's always something else to do, especially around the old homestead and it's surprising how quickly the blooms fade. What's also surprising is how difficult it is to get a decent shot (for me anyway). This year however, I got the best ones to date and I liked this example with a hint of evening light. (It also falls nicely into one of my themes - "A Moment of Light - In My Garden"). I did it with me longest lens (100-400mm + 1.4TC) to try to isolate the bloom and it's a short focus stack to get all of the central flower parts in focus.
