Deception, Antarctica 2013

Remnants of the whaling industry are scattered over Deception Island, off the Antarctic Peninsula. Access to the caldera of this volcanic island is through narrow entrance, shrouded in mist and low cloud but the sun burst through at one point giving great atmosphere and adding poignancy to what would have been a place of slaughter at the height of whaling.
