Richgrove relics

A forlorn pair of US&S searchlight signals still stand guard along the abandoned Southern Pacific Porterville Sub in the tiny farming community of Richgrove, CA. The line was once an important and busy route for SP's perishable traffic out of California's Central Valley and even hosted the famous overnight passenger train "The Owl" for many years, but unfortunately saw its last train in the early 1990's. All remaining trackage and hardware that was left including these old signals has been removed since the time this photo was taken.
