Nostoc Commune...
When I found this growing in extensive mats on a hiking path after rainy weather, I thought I found land-dwelling seaweed. It wasn't merely pond slime, it had distinct blobs or "leaves" the whole mat looking a bit like green scrambled eggs.Also it wasn't growing in the puddles, just on the wet dirt. Tonight while looking up something completely unrelated, I found out that this is a cyanobacteria called "Nostoc", which forms these colonies.They really do resemble seaweed...
