This photo was taken in La Piscine, an art museum in a suburb outside of Lille, France called Roubaix. I was with a few friends and sadly enough, this trip was my last encounter with some of them. (It was a bittersweet moment in my experience definitely.)
We had wandered through the galleries and we stumbled upon this arrangement, where various statues and art objects were lumped together in one singular exhibit. It was cramped and highly disorienting, like looking at history, all at once. Now having returned to the United States, I feel this way about my memories of Lille. I no longer look at Lille in a linear way like I had while there, past and present and the upcoming future; it is now behind me and I reflect back on it all at once.
