Today officially ends my Monarch season here on Long Island... and what an amazing season it was...
My last chrysalis eclosed with another perfect girl and she picked a perfect day to spread her wings... sun is shining with temps going up to 70*....
My count for the season was 357....
with 199 females & 158 males
Looking forward to next year and I hope to top this number...
IF YOU HAVE A GARDEN, PLEASE CONSIDER PLANTING MILKWEED... THESE MAGICAL CREATURES NEED THIS PLANT TO SURVIVE....
TROPICAL MILKWEED IS A BEAUTIFUL PLANT AND WOULD ADD SO MUCH TO YOUR GARDEN, IT CAN EVEN GROW IN CONTAINERS.... YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE CRAZY LIKE ME WITH TAKING THE CATERPILLARS IN.... BUT AS LONG AS THEY HAVE THE PLANTS TO LAY THEIR EGGS ON... MOTHER NATURE WILL HANDLE THE REST!!!
