All Weather Bentley. Pgh.,PA

1937 Bentley 4-1/4 Litre All Weather by Vanden Plas.

Rolls-Royce acquired Bentley Motors from Walter Owen Bentley in 1931 taking the company in an entirely new direction with the creation of the "Silent Sports Car" or Derby Bentley. The chassis was built at the Rolls-Royce and Bentley Motors Works in Derby, England and bodied by Vanden Plas, prominent British coachbuilders.

A total of 1234 4-1/4 Litre cars were produced between 1936 and 1939.

A characteristic of the Vanden Plas All Weather is that the doors are hung from the 'B' post and the hood, when folded, sits above the level of the doors. The All Weather Tourer also has roll-up windows and a disappearing B pillar. Only 19 All Weather 4-1/4 Litre Bentleys were built by Vanden Plas.
