- Kehena Black Sand Beach

Located in the Big Island’s Puna district [Hawaii].

Info: The sand at this beach is black, made from volcanic ashes as lava flowed into the ocean waters. The beach is well shaded by coconut palms and ironwood trees. Swimming is possible when the water is calm but strong rip currents and undertows occur frequently. The people who go to this beach can be nudists and hippies.
