Desaturation Theory
This image employs the desaturation theory because it absolves the use of color in order to demand the audience's emotional response. The photo depicts a homeless man sitting on a bench in Colombia and staring into the distance. He is missing a shoe and is notably malnourished; this is not a strange sight to see when walking around Colombia. The image is emotional because it exemplifies the state of poverty that so many humans live in. By stripping the saturation from the photo, the audience can not be distracted with the external appearance of the photo (i.e. colors) and is forced to take in the image for its emotional content.
