Autumn Roar! -Exmoor Red Deer Stag
I spent nearly 3 hours today, trying to get close to this Exmoor Red Deer Stag .He had been roaring, ( Known as Bolving on Exmoor) all afternoon and eventually he came into an ideal spot and just as I focused he commenced his noisy courtship,in some lovely late afternoon light.
Unlike park deer ,Exmoor deer are extremely wary and have been hunted for centuries on the moor.
You really have to work hard to get close enough for some some decent images as once you are seen or scented by the deer the last sight you normally see is the back end of the deer running quickly into the distance!!
