A day I never thought would actually come, the wedding day. Safe to say, I’m nervous. Even though there’s about 10 people here, lois and I agreed to have a small wedding. I tap my foot repeatedly until I hear dad behind me.
“Nervous?” he asks.
“Y-Yeah.” I stammer out.
“Don’t be, it’s a big day for you and her. Plus I’m pretty sure she’s just as nervous as you are.” He pats me on the back.
“But what if I mess it up? What if she gets hurt because of me?” He gives me a soft smile before replying.
“She said yes when she could’ve said no, she could’ve walked from you, run away, or anything else. But she said yes. That tells me she truly loves you, and is willing to accept it.” A smile escapes me.
“Thanks dad, i really needed that push.”
“No problem, good thing too. Because the wedding is starting right now.” I look back to see lois walking down the aisle, being escorted by my friend Pete. They then stop at the end of the aisle with lois holding my hands. I hear Father McCray speak.
“Dearly Beloved, we are gathered here today in the presence of these witnesses, to join Clark Kent and Lois Lane in matrimo-” I get distracted looking at lois and think back. It’s funny, I always thought, growing up, I'd end up alone and miserable, until I met lois. It’s kinda funny how someone like me, a guy who can fly into space with lasers coming out of my eyes, thinks of her as one of the weirdest people I've ever met.
“Mr. kent?” I hear from father McCray. “Are you alright?” he asks.
“Sorry, thought about dry cleaning.” I say with a nervous chuckle. He ignores it as I say my wedding vows. “I Clark Kent, take you Lois Lane to be my wife, my partner in life and my one true love. I will cherish our union and love you more each day than I did the day before. I will trust you and respect you, laugh with you and cry with you, loving you faithfully through good times and bad, regardless of the obstacles we may face together. I give you my hand, my heart, and my love, from this day forward for as long as we both shall live.” She then says her vows.
“I Lois Lane, take you Clark Kent to be my husband, my partner in life and my one true love. I will cherish our union and love you more each day than I did the day before. I will trust you and respect you, laugh with you and cry with you, loving you faithfully through good times and bad, regardless of the obstacles we may face together. I give you my hand, my heart, and my love, from this day forward for as long as we both shall live.” We exchange our rings.
"I Clark Kent give you Lois Lane this ring as an eternal symbol of my love and commitment to you." and she says hers. "I Lois Lane give you Clark Kent this ring as an eternal symbol of my love and commitment to you."
"By the power vested in me by the State of Kansas, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride". We then kiss. I always thought i didn’t have a place in the world. But I was wrong. I do have a place in the world, and it’s with her.
