DCU Superman #9
“Hey.” I look up to see Lois, carrying two takeout bags. “This is for you.” she says while handing mine. She sits down next to me. I’m silent before replying.
“Thanks.” She turns to me before asking.
“No problem.” she replies before. It’s silent for a bit before she asks. “So…….. have they told you anything?”
“We’ll be able to meet with him in a couple of minutes.” She gives a positive nod before replying.
“That’s good. But that’s not why you’re being silent is it?” It’s quiet for a few seconds before she adds. “You don’t have to tell me.” I take a deep breath before replying.
“I-I could’ve killed her, the electricity could’ve fried and killed her. I could’ve been a murderer.” She lets out a kind and gentle, the kind of smile that mom gives me before replying.
“I’ve been a reporter for a while, I’ve seen murderers, and that is one of the many things I know you’re not, a murderer doesn’t go out in tights without a mask trying to be helpful to everyone, all the while being a clumsy news reporter.” A chuckle escapes me.
“Thanks Lois, I appreciate it.” she smiles and we share a kiss before we’re interrupted.
“Ms. Lane?” I move my head to the side to see a nurse with a clipboard. “He’s ready.” I follow her along with Lois through the hallways, when we stop as she opens a cell door. “I hope he won’t be much trouble.” She then closes the door behind us as soon as we get in.
“So? You’ve got me.” He chuckles while showing his cuffed hands.
“We need information.” He scoffs.
“What do ya wanna know?” She immediately brings out the file from the diner.
“Nearly every person in this file is dead. Except two people,” She brings out a packet of papers, which showed conversations between Him and someone that was redacted. “You, and this anonymous person.” She then gets closer, “Tell me who he is.”
“I-I can’t! The guy’s a psycho,” He yells out. “H-He’ll freaking kill me if I tell you!” His response is very panicky, whoever this guy is, he must be feared by everyone.
“Fair enough.” I comment.
“What?!” Lois replies back “Clark!”
“He’s right, he can’t tell us.” I walk closer to him and hand him a pencil and paper. "Would you give us a moment?" I ask the guard. He raises a brow before walking off. “Would this do?” I whisper to him.
"Seriously?" he asks with a scoff. "I can't, they're out for blood. How would I even know that I can be safe?"
"That's the issue, we don't but we can help. You allowed us to interview for a reason, Lois and I are willing to give you a chance, will you?" He’s silent, but nods.
He grabs the paper and pencil, and writes a name that’s small, but small enough to where I could read it. “Thanks. You're doing the right thing, trust me.” I say as I take the paper and pen. We then walk out of the room, through the hallways, Lois asks me quietly.
“Who did he write?”
“Lex Luthor.” I whisper back.
