The Axe Gang (斧头帮)
In a time of social unrest and disorder. The gangs have moved closer into power. The biggest and most feared of them all is the Axe Gang.
The Axe Gang is an criminal faction that appears in several of my brickfilms, either as en antagonistic faction or as comedic relief. This gang is controlled by people called: ‘’Brothers’’ each branch was under command of one ‘’brother’’ the Dragonhead was the leader of all those branches. The Axe Gang was active around the time of the 1930s and the Second Sino-Japanese War, supported by the KMT they did whatever thy pleased as they converted other smaller and local gangs into their ranks, the ones who refused were wiped out.
The reason why the KMT government supported the Axe Gang was mainly because of their financial backings and sheer manpower. they also acted as press gangs who forced local companies to buy war bonds for the war, forcing people to conscript into the army and attack political dissidents.
Other activities the Axe Gang dealt with was: racketeering, counterfeiting, extortion, drug trafficking, human trafficking, money laundering, murder, illegal gambling, prostitution and loan sharking.
They were founded from the Gēlǎohuì, a secret society and underground resistance movement against the Qing dynasty. That took part in the Xinhai Revolution that saw the end of the Qing Dynasty’s rule over China. From there the Axe Gang grew in power, becoming one of the largest and most notorious triads of China during that time, by bribing police officers and government official and soon gaining support from the government themselves, they were pretty much unstoppable. People who opposed them were met with deadly force and local police who refused to be bribed were either killed or too scared to do their duties against this notorious gang
Eventually their power declined after the communist takeover in China, forcing them to relocate their main branch from Shanghai to Hong Kong and other branches were eventually forced to hide as the communists actively cracked down on crime syndicates and secret societies.
A custom design of some members of the ''Axe Gang'' who appears in various kung-fu movies.
But even in the lego world, this gang is active. Their primary weapons are axes. But some of the members doesn't really take their job as a gangster serious. The design of these Axe Gang members are based of the movie: ''Kung Fu Hustle''
They also appear in a Brickfilm I made:
