Vaughan, Benjamin
Benjamin Vaughan was born in 1751 on his parent’s plantation in Jamaica. He later owned slaves and spoke vehemently against their emancipation. He is also known for his role as a British politician in negotiating the Treaty of Paris, which ended the American Revolution and ensured that Upper Canada (Ontario) remained under British Rule. He died in 1835.
