Langstaff, Lillian
Dr. Lillian Carroll Langstaff, known as the Lady Doctor of Richmond Hill, graduated from Queen’s University Medical School in Kingston in 1905 at a time when few schools accepted women. She married Dr. Rolph Langstaff and spent most of the early years of her practice treating women at the Jail Farm in Concord, specializing in gynecology and pediatrics. In addition, she was an active member of the Red Cross, Richmond Hill Horticultural Society, United Church Women and an avid naturalist. She retired from practice in 1940 and passed away in 1978.
