Berton, Pierre
Pierre Berton was born on July 12, 1920, in Whitehorse, Yukon, where his father had moved during the Klondike Gold Rush. At the University of British Columbia, he worked on the student paper, The Ubyssey, where he met Janet, the senior editor of the Tuesday edition. They married in 1946 and raised eight children. The Bertons moved to Kleinburg around 1950, and Pierre became an editor and author of over fifty books and even ran his own TV show. He passed away at Sunnybrook hospital in 2004.
