Nattress, Mary Ann (left)
Mary Ann Lawrie was born in 1846, one of four children born to the Scottish immigrants, John Lawrie and Isabella Reid. She married John Nattress, the first schoolteacher at S.S. No. 13, Elder’s Mills, in 1863, and they had eight children. They spent their lives in Woodbridge and were active within the community, including the Woodbridge Presbyterian Church. She passed away in 1926 and was interred in Knox Cemetery.
