John Perry, ca. 1956
John Perry was born on a farm near Schomberg and joined the Air Force in 1940 after finishing high school. He spent two years as a training instructor, beginning in 1941 and went overseas in 1943. Once abroad he connected with the Pathfinders, a Secret Service group, and flew more than 90 missions. After the war ended, he spent two years as an apprentice druggist at Henderson’s Drug Store in Woodbridge, before getting his pharmacy degree. In 1950, he married June Campbell and opened his first drug store in Maple in 1951. He served on Woodbridge Town Council in 1951 before moving to Maple to represent Vaughan Township Council in 1952 and 1953.
