Russell Watson was born in Vaughan Township in 1924. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1943 and served in Europe during World War II. Watson was discharged in October 1945. Following the war, he moved to Tara, Ontario, where he married and had two daughters. He also purchased his own business, Tara Motors, in 1951 and later ran a successful Volkswagen dealership. Watson served on Town Council for Tara for many years and was elected Reeve (Mayor). A life member of the Legion, he served as President in 1955. Watson passed away in 1997.
