Walter Grieve, 1978

Walter Grieve was born in Greenock, Scotland in 1922. He married Inger Christensen of Denmark, and they had three children. He served with the Royal Engineers in World War II, attaining the rank of Lieutenant, and served in Bomb Disposal and Armored units in England and Italy. He began his own company as a construction management consultant and moved to the area in 1960. Grieve was elected Councillor in 1974 and 1976 and was influential in saving Langstaff from the Parkway Belt and preserving Centre Street.
