Lorna Jackson, 1982-2002

Lorna Jackson was Vaughan’s first female Mayor and the longest serving, holding the title for twenty years. In addition to leading Vaughan Council, she was on the boards of York Regional Council, the Toronto Region and Conservation Authority, the York Regional Police Services Board, and the Hydro Vaughan Distribution Inc. She also had three children: Linda, Jim, and Jeff with her husband John Alan Jackson. She passed away in office in 2002 after battling cancer.
