The Elms Hotel, ca. 1970

The Elms Hotel was located at 39 Pine Street in Woodbridge. Like other hotels across Ontario, it had its liquor license removed when prohibition went into effect in 1916. The lack of income from liquor sales was a major factor in forcing all the hotels in Woodbridge to close. It was not until 1923 that their licenses were restored, and the Elms reopened for business.
