“Mark Your Ballot Thus,” The Liberal, Oct. 16, 1924

The 1924 referendum on prohibition, upheld the Ontario Temperance Act by a narrow majority. Due to this narrow majority, evidence of popular sentiment turning away from temperance, prohibition was repealed in 1927 with the passing of the Liqour License Act.
