James and Elizabeth Robb farmed for 53 years in Vaughan on the site where Vaughan Mills now sits.
James and Elizabeth were residents of Edgeley and had nine children together. Russell, Ellwood, Stanley, Earl, Les, and Alvin are in the back row of this family picture. In the front row are Ada, Iva, James, Elizabeth, and Winnifred.
Stanley was a carpenter before he enlisted in February 1916. Stanley served in France and Belgium and was killed in action in 1917. His wife, Violet, moved away from the area following his death. Stanley’s brother Alvin also served in France and Belgium but was discharged a month before the war ended for medical reasons.
