Addison Alexander Mackenzie was deeply affected by his experiences of service and the loss of his younger brother. Following the First World War, Mackenzie took up farming and lived a life of public service, entering politics.
In addition to being active in local and provincial politics and several clubs, he also played a part in efforts to memorialize the war locally, celebrating the memories of his loved ones who lost their lives. A couple of the commemorative projects he was involved with were the Woodbridge Memorial Tower and the 1936 Vimy Pilgrimage.
