Joseph Mathewson
Joseph Mathewson emigrated from Ireland to Vaughan Township with his parents, Hugh, and Mary McClung, in the early 1830s, and eventually bought Lot 11, Concession 3 at the northwest corner of Dufferin Street and Highway 7. He married his first cousin, Rebecca Mathewson in 1838 and in 1870, sold his land to his eldest son John. John died in 1871.
