Donald Cameron
Donald Cameron was born in 1793 and married Christine McLeven in 1819. Donald and Christine emigrated from Scotland soon after and settled in Caledon Township, where their daughters, Agnes, and Sarah, were born. After Christine’s death in 1823, Donald married Elizabeth Armour the following year and bought Lot 30, Concession 5 (running from today’s Jane to Weston Streets and south of Kirby Street) in Vaughan. Donald and Elizabeth had 8 children: Jean, Archibald, Alexander, Janet, Christine, Elizabeth, Mary, and Donald. Donald was an elder in the St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Maple and served on Vaughan Township Counsel from 1853-56. He died in 1858.
