Michael Keffer
Michael was born in 1766 to Jacob and Anna Maria Nass and together with his brother Jacob, he led a group of German immigrants from Pennsylvania to Vaughan Township, arriving in 1806. The Keffer brothers, as well as the other pioneers they arrived with, formed one of Upper Canada's earliest Lutheran congregations. Michael Keffer owned Lots 9 and 10, Concession 3, (running from Keele to Dufferin Streets, south of Highway 7) with his brother’s family living nearby. Michael married Anna Maria Welch and they had at least three sons: Daniel, William, and Valentine. He died in 1852.
