William Watson
James Watson, and his son William, emigrated to Vaughan from Ireland in 1836, after living in the United States for a brief time. They purchased the east half of lot 32, concession 7 (on Kipling Avenue, north of Kirby Road). William Watson was a teacher first at the Bryson School (School Section No. 10) and later at the Purpleville School (School Section No. 11). William also served as Reeve (Mayor) of Vaughan Township.
