William Jarrett
William (Billy) Jarrett was born near Hornsea, East Yorkshire, England in 1779. He married Mary Constable in 1815, adopting her son, William Constable, at the time, and the pair had five more children. Mary died in 1827 and Billy remarried the following year to Elizabeth Grange, with their first son being born that fall. Billy emigrated with his family to Vaughan in 1830. They travelled through Quebec City on the way to York as it was the cheaper route and made their home on Lot 2, Concession 3, (present day Keele Street, north of Steeles Avenue) marking a return to the farm labouring Billy and his family had done in England.
