Cabinet Card, Maggie May and Jennie McGillivray
Today’s notable pioneer family is the McGillivray family of Kleinburg. Emigrating from the Island of Mull, Neil McGillivray purchased an already partially cleared parcel of land ca. 1836, located on Lot 20, Concession 9 (present day southwest Hwy 27 and Major Mackenzie Drive). Neil and his wife Flora Beaton eventually had ten children (two are pictured above) and McGillivray descendants continued to farm the homestead until the 1960’s.
