Bowes Family fonds
Today’s featured historic Vaughan family is the Bowes family of Concord. Anthony Bowes and his family arrived in Vaughan in 1831, settling on Lot 3, Concession 2 (present day area southeast of Steeles and Dufferin). As the family expanded, more land was purchased for the younger generations and these farms existed into the 1950s. One of the City’s smaller archival collections, the Bowes family fonds consists primarily of genealogical records compiled in the 1970s and is a “go to” resource for ancestry Bowes research.
