Aaron Oster Auction poster Concord, 1919
Pictured here is a broadside, or large poster, created by the auctioneer, J. H. Prentice, which advertises the credit sale and auction for Aaron Oster’s farm implements, furniture and stock on January 29, 1919 on the occasion of Aaron Oster’s retirement from farming. Aaron Oster was the grandson of John Oster, a farmer and tanner originally from Pennsylvania who settled in Vaughan Township at the turn of the 19th century. In 1826 John and his wife, Rachel, purchased Lot 7, Concession 3 in Concord, where they established the family farm. The Oster family continued to live and farm there until 1968.
