At the November 1949 meeting of the Elder’s Mills Women’s Institute, the possibility of creating a Tweedsmuir history for the local area was discussed. The Burwick Women’s Institute Tweedsmuir Subcommittee shared their notes on the area, Mrs. Roy Arlow donated a book, and members were encouraged to bring historical items relating to the development of the community forward to the group. This photograph is one example of the material that was submitted by members of the Elder’s Mills Women’s Institute from their Tweedsmuir History.
