During World War I, the Maple Women’s Institute contributed to the war effort through the Red Cross initiatives by sewing and making care packages to be sent to local men who were serving overseas. Members donated handmade textiles, money, jam, and other canned goods, as well as raisins and dried fruit. Throughout the Second World War, the branch fulfilled similar functions, supporting charities such as the British War Victims Fund and the World Refugee Fund, in addition to hosting a Victory Dance in 1945 and a Welcome Home Dance for troops in 1946.
