The Burwick Women’s Institute created a specific subcommittee for the creation of their Tweedsmuir History Books on July 22nd, 1943, which would meet on a monthly basis. Pictured here are the committee members: Mrs. Frederica Howl, Miss Matilda Miller, Mrs. Ellen Carr, Miss Gloria Hallman, Mrs. Estelle Barker, Mrs. Mary Wood, Mrs. Dorothy Mitchell and Mrs. Madge Fletcher. Upon the completion of the Tweedsmuir History Books, the group entered the Lady Tweedsmuir Cup Competition, where they won first place at the provincial and second place at the national levels. Following the competition, the books were circulated at different events, before being donated to the City of Vaughan Archives.
