Photograph of Flying Officer Stewart Page of Thornhill, ca. 1918

Photograph of Flying Officer Stewart Page of Thornhill, in his British RAF uniform, comprised of a hat, goggles, a drab olive suit and a leather jacket that could be worn only while on the ground, ca. 1918.

The Page family traces its lineage in Vaughan to 1838 when 200 acres on Lot 9, Concession 2 were deeded to Lewis Page, land that was acquired by the Crown through the disputed Toronto Purchase (Treaty No. 13). Members of the Page family have also been prominent in the field of agricultural science, with Stewart Page writing his fourth-year thesis in 1924 on the agricultural history of Vaughan, after he returned from the war. Stewart Page studied at the Ontario Agricultural College.
