Russell Watson was born in Vaughan Township on Nov. 26, 1924. He joined the air force on Jan. 28, 1943, serving in England and Europe during the Second World War. He was honourably discharged two years after the end of the war and moved to Tara. He opened a successful Volkswagen dealership and became a driver/partner in MacDonald Watson school bus lines. Russell Watson was a member of the Watson family of Vaughan, and part of the fonds is displayed above. In 1856, William Watson came to Canada with his wife, settling on Lot 7, Concession 6. The pair had seven children and family remained on the property until 1962, when it was sold to become a weather station.
