Woodbridge Public School, 1885
School Section No. 14
About 1830, a public school, School Section No. 14, was constructed of logs in Burwick, later known as Woodbridge. It was later replaced by a brick structure and just before 1875, two additions were added. In 1885, the average attendance was 112 students, and the teachers were George Deacon, Maggie Smithers and Lucy Woolley. The building (pictured above in 1885) underwent several changes and rebuilds, until 1945, when a modern school was constructed. This new building incorporated the bell from previous buildings, but it was not long until significant additions were required, including new classrooms, a shop room, washrooms and a boardroom.
