Kleinburg School, 1907

School Section No. 17

The first school in Kleinburg (School Section No. 15), was a log structure built by Mr. Kline in 1845. In 1855, a new larger school was needed, and several lots were purchased for the construction of a large one room brick building, with a smaller attached wooden structure that was opened as needed. Both rooms were heated by box stoves until 1916, when a small cellar was dug under the brick structure and a coal furnace was installed. Around the same time, the playground was also enlarged. In 1957, the school was closed and sold. Pictured above are the Kleinburg School students outside the school in 1907.
