Hope School Photo, ca. 1937
School Section No. 5
Acting as trustees for Hope School (School Section No. 5), George Wilson, Archibald McQuarrie and William Craddock originally purchased land on Lot 28, Concession 3. It was a brick building with a frame addition for an assistant. Pictured above are the Hope School students in 1937. When a larger school was needed, additional land was purchased from Norman and Doris Payne, allowing for the construction of a new two-room schoolhouse in 1955. However, with the amalgamation of the school system in 1967, Hope School was closed and later sold, eventually becoming a nursing home.
