Thornhill Presbyterian, ca. 1930s

The Thornhill Presbyterian Church was organized in 1849, with members previously attending the Richmond Hill Presbyterian Church. Under the direction of Reverend James Dick, the congregation bought a frame building and moved it to a new site on Lot 31, on the west side of Yonge Street. The church continued to be affiliated with the Richmond Hill Presbyterian Church in the years following the split and in 1883, chose not to enter union with the Methodist and Congregational churches. The photograph above depicts the church in about 1930, however a new church has since been constructed on Centre Street.
