St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, ca. 1900
Saint Andrew’s Presbyterian Church was formed in 1829 and within the next couple of years a cemetery was also established. Reverend Peter McNaughton, originally of Scotland, was the first Presbyterian minister, administering to the flock from 1832 to 1844, before moving back to Scotland. There was no minster from 1844 until 1859, when Revered D. Ross was ordained and inducted. A manse was built to house the ministers and a new church was constructed in 1862, across the street from the old church. The photograph above of the St. Andrew’s church is dated ca. 1900.
