Robert Johnston
This letter was written by my grandfather’s relative Robert Johnston. Robert enlisted in 1915, serving in World War I. He remained close with all of his friends and classmates through letters. My grandfather always said that Robert was a cheerful fellow and never wanted anyone to worry about him, to the point of saying that he was in the best of health, despite being in the trenches and later being captured as a Prisoner of War. Sadly, he died, before I got the chance to meet him, but my grandfather’s stories are always in my thoughts during Remembrance Day.
