Lawrence Twoaxe
A long-standing resident of Pine Grove, Lawrence Twoaxe was the representative for the First Nations of North America at the League of Nations. Originally from the Kahnawà:ke reserve in Quebec, Twoaxe and his family settled in Pine Grove, the hamlet north of Woodbridge. Twoaxe spent most of his life undertaking humanitarian service and advocating for Indigenous rights. He sat as the Chairman of the National Organizational Council of the League of Nations of North American Indians, the largest Indigenous organization in the world.
