Nov., 2015: Maple Airport, 1985

This aerial depicts the land southeast of Major Mackenzie Drive and Jane Street, which was once home to the Maple Airport (1955-1987). This small airfield consisted of two runways in an “X” pattern and was once the third busiest private civilian and commercial airport in Canada. Increased urbanization and development in Maple led to the airports’ closure in 1987 and the area is now occupied by Maple Creek Public School (210 Hawker Road).
