Mar., 2016: Spring Flood, Clarence and Chuch Sts., ca. 1954

On March 13th 1936, residents and business owners in Woodbridge found themselves completely cut off from their neighbours by raging water from both the spring thaw and Humber River. Covering the streets, sidewalks and in some cases the ground floor of cottages, the water reached depths of up to three feet. The above image was taken at Clarence and Church Streets (present day Clarence Street and Meeting House Road), just west of the Humber River in the heart of Woodbridge.
