Mar., 2014: Construction of Highway No. 7 Bridge Across the Humber River, 1926
Historically known as the “Northern Highway”, the King’s Highway 7 is one of Ontario’s major arterial highways. In existence since 1920, construction in the Vaughan area began in the latter half of the 1920s and into the 1930s. This image captures the work of a steam shovel clearing a section of road in Vaughan for the highway, which was a work project secured by Vaughan Township Council to help residents through the Great Depression.
