Jan., 2014: Bert Harris Delivering Mail, 1942
The problem of burning out two connection rods in his motor car in the deep snowy roads of Vaughan Township when delivering mail on January 15, 1942 didn’t faze the mailman, Bert Harris. He simply hitched his father’s horse, Dobbin, to a 1911 cutter and covered his mail route in record time (from Norberta O’Rouke’s Chatting About the ‘Post Offices’ of Vaughan Township, Ontario).
