Feb., 2018: Sandy Agnew Collection
The Sandy Agnew Collection is one of the City’s more recent acquisitions, containing material from various members of the Mackenzie, Mounsey and Dalziel families. Being one of Major A.A. Mackenzie’s great nephews, Agnew’s collection includes materials inherited from Mackenzie, as well as his extended family, including some very early records from original Vaughan settlers. Spanning the years 1850-1970, the Sandy Agnew Collection consists of photographs, negatives and 3cm of textual records relating to the various Vaughan families. Included in the collection is an 1839 land deed granted to John Smith for lot 5, concession 5, and one large scale poster for an Extensive Credit Sale of Farm Implements from March of 1899. Photos and correspondence within the accession also include items from early Vaughan residents, including the Wallace, McLean, Dalziel, Grant, Mounsey, Williams, Thompson and Harris families.
